LAB IN A BOX
The “Lab in a Box” project arises from the conviction that science can be learned in our daily lives and that, more than a subject, it is a way of thinking and being in the world.
Created by scientists and science communicators at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência, “Lab in a Box” is an educational project that seeks to implement a novel kit of science activities in the classroom. The “Lab in a Box” kit is portable, modular, composed of cheap, common materials, and is especially designed to help teachers and educators grow children’s wonder towards the world around them, their critical thinking ability, scientific curiosity and ecological consciousness.

LAB IN A BOX
EXPERIMENTS
In addition to all the necessary materials, each “Lab in a Box” kit contains a detailed and appealing set of experimental activities that are integrated in the subject-area curriculum, school grade and regional context for which the kit is intended.
Each “Lab in a Box” activity is intended to teach students how to observe, to ask questions, to make hypothesis, to experiment; to acquire and evaluate information, to deal with uncertainty and the unexpected; to keep an open mind, to value different opinions, to collaborate; to take on attitudes and values towards sustainability and civic responsibility.
