On July 19 last, the “Lab in a Box” team presented its project at the 18th International Conference on Hands-on Science, the HSCI2021, alongside various others innovative Science Education projects. HSCI aims to “promote friendly and broad exchange of experiences on good practices, syllabus and policy matters, social factors and the learning of science, and other issues related to Science Education and its development”.
This year’s HSCI Conference was dedicated to the theme: “Hands-on Science Education Activities – Challenges and Opportunities of Distant and Online Teaching and Learning”. The “Lab in a Box” (LiB) presentation discussed how the COVID-19 pandemic threw a wrench into the project’s plans for in person training of teachers to perform hands-on science activities in the classroom but also fostered the LiB team’s creativity to come up with online teacher training solutions and ways to share experimental science materials that guaranteed project implementation.
