Scientific Direction and Editing – Physics

Ana Maria Eiró

A full Professor at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon since 1999, currently retired, Ana has been a professor at this Faculty since 1970, having done research in the area of Nuclear Physics. She has held many positions of direction and scientific management in the university context, but also at the Portuguese Physics Society, European Physics Society, at the Nuclear Physics European Collaboration Committee (NuPECC), and at the portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. Ana has extensive experience in science dissemination, having curated several scientific exhibitions at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, at the Lisbon Museum, and at the Museums of the University of Lisbon, of which she was director from 2006 to 2010. From 2012 to 2015 Ana directed O mundo na escola, a school science outreach program by the Ministry of Education and Science. In 2005 she was awarded the rank of great officer of the order of Infante D. Henrique. The thing Ana most likes to do nowadays is to teach science to young minds.
